Taylor Group Research

Tom graduated from the University of Leeds in 2021 with an MChem in Medicinal Chemistry. His PhD is in collaboration with Prof. Steve Bull working on utilising the Diels-Alder reaction class to produce aromatic scaffolds which can be utilised for potential theranostic applications. Tom is currently working at the University of Leicester with Prof. Bull. In his spare time Tom enjoys all things gaming, computing, and generally triangular.

Siqi is originally from Guangzhou, China. She graduated from University of Huddersfield in 2019 majored in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as a part of 3+1 program. Siqi then came to the University of Bath and did Msc in Drug Discovery. Siqi's PhD is in collaboration with Prof. Steve Bull working on new methods for the synthesis of vinyl isocyanides. In her spare time, Siqi enjoys sleeping, eating, watching films and photography.

Amber is working on a project in collaboration with Prof. Frank Marken on the development of new interdigitated electrosynthetic cells.

Emma completed her MChem at the University of Bath with a year in industry at AstraZeneca working as a process chemist. Emma did her Masters project in the Taylor group working on the synthesis of benzopyrrolo-oxazole heterocycles via arylboronic acid catalysis and will continue this work into her PhD looking at catalytic dehydrative methodologies for heterocycle synthesis. In her spare time, Emma likes crocheting and baking.

Jess graduated from the University of Bath in 2024 with an MChem which included an industrial placement year in the Medicinal Chemistry department at Charles River Laboratories. During her final year Masters project, she worked on the synthesis towards nitrogen-containing caged structures, supervised by Dr Susannah Coote. Jess' PhD is in collaboration with Ruth Webster and Syngenta, and focuses on iron-catalysed dehydrative nucleophilic substitution reactions. Outside of the lab, Jess enjoys papercraft, going to the gym, and outdoor adventures.
